A Winter Sunday in Hoboken

Sunday morning, I drove into Hoboken and walked around the city a bit. It was flurrying on and off, but it was a nice, crisp winter day and the view from the waterfront was beautiful. I took some photos with my iPhone and edited them using Afterglow (I mentioned this app in Thursday’s post) and then Instagram.

I love the vintage film effect I achieved with Afterglow

Edited in Afterglow then brought into Instagram and added an additional filter and changed the focus

Hoboken3

Edited in Afterglow – used a vintage effect again

I can’t get enough of this circle frame (Afterglow)

Another circle frame with Afterglow and then used Instagram’s focus effect

Added a filter in Afterglow and then used the Lux (that little sun) effect in Instagram and created a focal point

I really like the editing capabilities of Afterglow, such as the different frame shapes, filters, and lens flare effects. What it’s missing though, is the ability to play with the focus the way you can in Instagram. So I edited the photos with Afterglow and then brought them into Instagram to create a focal point. In some images, I added an Instagram filter on top of the Afterglow filter. I really like the way the images turned out and I love the vintage effects I was able to create. It still boggles my mind how quick and simple it is to create beautiful photos on a little phone. Sometimes, Photoshop is just too much.
